Early Pioneers Of Rock and Roll Radio
"Rock & Roll" a phrase credited to Alan Freed, a phrase used
to make the predominantly black rhythm and blues,
more acceptable to white America.
Up until the mid 50’s, mainstream radio played
only what is called a “cover”,a white singer performing
a song that was originally recorded by a black performer,
but there were a few brave souls out there
that loved the music enough, to risk ridicule and bodily harm
to play the original recordings
